Have you read Giap, he actually stated in his book he knew he could not beat the US in battle on the fields of Vietnam, he would win it in the American living room by turning the American people against the war. We were not allowed to based on world political needs of the time. The military could of won Vietnam, read the books and that actual After Action Reports not WiKi and biased media. The Paris Accords were flawed, admitted, but our polititians were idiots worried about re-election over the people of South Vietnam and those who fought there. And it was American bombers over Hanoi bombing the crap out of them that got them to the table and discussing peace once more. The world saw us as the aggressors and used their media to 'question' the war, and yet for the number of attrocities committed by the NVA and VC were never 'mentioned' and if they were downplayed, it seems the American 'attrocities' made front page across the world.
You can call it what you like to make yourselves feel better "Peace with honour" and such crap but simple fact is North Vietnam kicked you out the country like they did the French before you.ĭo you really understand what happened in Vietnam and why were not allowed to actually 'win' that war? Was it a military issue or a political issue? We could not bomb Haiphong with the Soviet freighters unloading military equipment, we could not bomb central Hanoi because of the Soviet equipment and advisors. Your not the only one who knows history mate and everyone in the world knows USA "LOST" the war hell every history channel on the subject say's America lost the war. you bugged out because you could not win the war, you were outlasted by a fanatical opponent, you did not achieve anything you set out to do in Vietnam, and that so called treaty wasn't worth the paper it was written on in the first place South Vietnam did not want to sign it but you pressured them into signing it on the pretext that you would come back and help if attacked but you never had any intention to help in fact you couldn't get out of their quick enough. The ONLY people that lost in Vietnam were the South Vietnamese.Īgain see what I mean by modern perceptions of history based on a very poor education system. Our polititians did not honor that 'promise' and in April 1975 South Vietnam 'lost' the Vietnam War.
